Cookies & Local Storage

Cookie Policy

Effective Date: September 28, 2026 · Last Updated: October 5, 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies and local storage items are small data files stored in your browser by websites you visit. They allow our service to remember your authenticated session, preserve your language preferences, and safeguard platform security. This policy outlines exactly what we store, why we store it, and how you can manage your settings.

2. Cookies and Storage We Use

TikRSS adheres to a strict data minimization philosophy. We only utilize cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the core platform, deliver your digests, and support our transparent affiliate program:

  • Authentication Session (Strictly Necessary): Managed by Supabase Auth (sb-*-auth-token). When you sign in via Magic Link or password credentials, these tokens maintain your encrypted session across requests. Without them, access to your subscriptions, custom prompt lenses, and executive dashboard is not possible.
  • Locale Preference (tikrss_locale): Stores your selected language (supporting 11 global languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, and Hindi) so that your interface and briefing layouts remain consistent across visits. Lifetime: 1 year.
  • Affiliate Referral Cookie (tikrss_ref): If you access TikRSS via an affiliate partner link, a secure first-party cookie stores the partner's referral code for 30 days to credit their commission if you subscribe to a paid tier. This cookie is never set if you visit our site directly.
  • Edge Security & DDoS Mitigation: Transient edge tokens managed by Cloudflare (e.g., __cf_bm, cf_clearance) to distinguish legitimate user requests from automated DDoS floods and bot attacks. These contain no personal identification data.

3. What We Do NOT Use

Unlike algorithm-driven social feeds, our business model is funded entirely by direct subscriptions, not advertising:

  • Zero Advertising or Remarketing Trackers: We do not deploy Meta Pixel, Google Ads Remarketing, TikTok Pixel, or any third-party behavioral advertising scripts.
  • No Invasive Device Fingerprinting: We do not track cross-site browsing history or build behavioral dossiers on our users.
  • Server-Side Aggregate Telemetry Only: We monitor server request rates, error codes, and API latencies strictly at the server infrastructure level to maintain our 99.9% uptime SLA, without planting tracking beacons on client devices.

4. How to Manage Cookies

You have full control over cookie storage through your browser settings. You can review, block, or delete cookies at any time:

  • If you disable essential authentication cookies, you will not be able to log in or manage your video feed subscriptions.
  • Disabling the locale cookie simply resets the interface to your browser's default language.
  • Clearing the affiliate referral cookie has no impact on your account functionality or subscription pricing.

For EU/EEA and UK residents: TikRSS operates strictly under the “Strictly Necessary” exemption of Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC) and UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

5. Policy Updates

We periodically review and update this policy to reflect enhancements in our architecture and platform features. Any revisions will be posted here with an updated “Last Updated” timestamp.
